Dai-ichi Life sets up AI-Focused GCC in hyderabad with Capgemini

Dai-ichi Life Group, a leading insurance company from Japan, is teaming up with global tech company Capgemini to open a new technology center in Hyderabad, India. This center will play a big role in helping Dai-ichi Life become more modern and digital.

What is the centre all about?

This new center will use a special setup called the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model. That means Capgemini will first build and run the center, handling all operations. Over time, Dai-ichi Life will take full control of the center and its staff, making the company stronger and more independent in handling digital work.

What will the centre do?

The Hyderabad center will focus on:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Data analysis
  • Software development
  • IT infrastructure
  • Cybersecurity

At first, the center will support Dai-ichi Life's main markets in Japan, the U.S., and Australia, and may expand to more countries later. By using India’s talented tech professionals, Dai-ichi Life wants to:

  • Improve its internal technology
  • Make operations faster and smoother
  • Protect customer data better
  • Create better experiences for customers

Capgemini’s role

Capgemini will provide the tools and expertise to help Dai-ichi Life build advanced digital systems. This is important because insurance companies today need strong technology to stay competitive and keep customers happy. Capgemini has already helped many companies around the world with similar digital upgrades.

Why India?

India is becoming a major hub for tech centers like this. There are over 1,700 such centers in the country, with around 2 million people working in them. The industry is currently worth about $64.6 billion and is expected to grow to $100 billion by 2030—especially in areas like banking and insurance.

What the leaders are saying?

Tetsuya Kikuta, CEO of Dai-ichi Life Holdings, said:

“This partnership helps us build important digital skills inside our company. With Capgemini’s help, we’ll get better at using AI, data, and cybersecurity tools, and we’ll be ready for the future.”

Aiman Ezzat, CEO of Capgemini, added:

“By working together, we’ll use technology to serve customers even better. Combining Dai-ichi Life’s insurance knowledge with our tech expertise will create great value and set new standards in the industry.”
