FxUAV: Pioneering 5G Telemetry to Unlock India’s Drone Potential

Key Takeaways

  • FxUAV Technologies builds 5 G-enabled telemetry solutions to power next-gen drone operations in India.
  • Incubated at STPI's Electropreneur Park, the startup is pioneering plug-and-play drone modules that enable BVLOS capabilities.
  • Backed by patents, institutional support, and real-world deployments, FxUAV is shaping the future of real-time aerial monitoring.

FxUAV Technologies traces its roots to Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Burla, Odisha, where co-founders Partha Sarathi Dash and Subham Acharya started building drones during their college years.

Their breakthrough came during the Rebuild Odisha Hackathon in 2019, after Cyclone Fani, where their drone-based first responder prototype marked a pivotal shift.

Despite placement offers, they chose the startup path, driven by a desire to understand business from the ground up. Their commitment paid off—they secured funding just before graduating and began building what would become a groundbreaking 5G telemetry solution for unmanned aerial vehicles.

Creating a New Connectivity Standard for Drones

FxUAV’s mission is to revolutionise real-time aerial monitoring using intelligent, secure, and scalable telemetry systems. The core challenge they address is the limitation of traditional drones, which rely on short-range radio or Wi-Fi links, restricting operations to within Line-of-Sight (LOS).

Their patented Universal 5G Telemetry Module breaks these boundaries, enabling Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) capabilities. Using 5G—and fallback LTE where needed, it streams HD video, sensor data, and alerts in real-time via a browser-accessible dashboard. From disaster response to mining audits, this opens up a new era of drone utility.

"Drone to dashboard—all under one roof," sums up their value proposition. Their plug-and-play modules come with network bonding, low-latency streaming, RFID-based security, and real-time analytics.

Supported by India’s Innovation Ecosystem

FxUAV is incubated at Electropreneur Park, Bhubaneswar, and supported by institutions like TEXMiN and NSRCEL at IIM Bangalore. Mentors like Lopa Mishra Jana, Suraj Prakash, and others have played pivotal roles. This ecosystem provided not just infrastructure, but visibility, pilot deployments, and key feedback loops.

Their recognition includes winning Chunauti 1.0, Phase 2 of the 5G Hackathon, and being named one of the top 24 startups at TiECON Kolkata 2020. In 2024, their first patent for the 5G telemetry module was officially granted.

Building for India, Scaling for the World

FxUAV is strategically targeting high-impact B2B sectors such as defence, mining, and logistics industries where secure, long-range drone connectivity is a game-changer. With India’s drone market expected to hit ₹3 lakh crore and the global UAV sector projected to soar to $91 billion by 2030, the demand for advanced telemetry solutions is escalating.

FxUAV

To meet this demand, FxUAV offers modular kits starting at ₹15,000. These plug-and-play solutions come bundled with bonding software and optional enclosures, making them accessible and adaptable for varied field conditions. While scaling hardware production remains complex, the startup’s SaaS-based video telemetry platform offers a clear path to growth and recurring revenue.

"Identify a problem, build a resilient team, and be accountable," says Dash. "Move fast, fail fast, and learn faster."

Milestones and Momentum

With over six field tests completed, latency reduced by 35% in low-signal zones, and internal deployments underway, FxUAV is proving its tech under real-world stress. Upcoming products include fully indigenous remote controllers and long-range data telemetry systems.

SeederX, a precision drone for afforestation using seedballs, exemplifies its environmental impact, bringing scalable green solutions to hard-to-reach zones.
