Was all set to buy 20 BTC back in 2013

But was going to have to go meet a guy at a gas station and do a live swap. Felt way too shady so said "nah." Spent the next 7 years sort of kicking myself, but also internalized a lot of the FUD, until 2020 when I had this wacky meditation teacher who of all random things ended up turning into this big BTC evangelist, and despite all of my doubts somehow over time talked me into buying in when it was around $40k. Was working for a business that did really well during the pandemic so I randomly had a lot of cash I was trying to figure out where to invest, and ended up throwing low six figures into BTC. Then watched it slide on down to $16k in 2022, and was again kicking myself for "buying at the top" but as I had everything in a cold wallet every day I thought about selling I was too lazy to actually go through all the steps. I'm confident that if I'd been on an exchange I would have panic sold under $20k. So, time has made a HODLer out of me. This is all to say--I of course don't know where BTC might go in the future, but for anyone feeling like they've missed out, hopefully mine is just another story of how it's never too late. I will say--and I know this might be an unpopular opinion here--but I regard diversification as an absolute requirement for any good portfolio. No matter how confident you are in BTC, always consider downside risk and don't put all your eggs in one basket, even if that basket seems to be headed to the moon. submitted by /u/greatgladtidings [link] [comments]
