Annoyed about the whole KYC agenda
Hey all, just a rant about the whole KYC agenda that’s been pushed through since like 2020, I’ve kept up with crypto since about covid, invested a bit into bitcoin and just held for long term. Did this through a KYC exchange where my id and papers are all linked. I’m in the midst of researching some cold wallets (leaning towards Trezor safe 3) i do worry about the seed getting lost tbh but still know it’s much better than leaving everything in a exchange and was doing the research / watching how it all works etc. But then realised that even if i send my funds to my trezor, it’s all still public and linked back to my exchange address - which again is linked all to my identity due to KYC. I’m not trying to go buy dodgey / illegal shit, but i’m still annoyed that the whole anonymous etc stuff is just kinda ruined by this KYC bullshit. I saw a few methods such as coinjoin etc but don’t know if that’s worth it / trustable etc. Was researching how before 2017 it all used to be anonymous essentially with kyc NOT being a norm, wish i was into it back then lol. Anyway, with banks already holding off so much payments to exchanges regarding crypto already and the whole kyc movement i’m interested to see what’s next. submitted by /u/four_highkey [link] [comments]
