While the Kindle Kids is more affordable ($105 vs. $140 on sale), it isn't waterproof. That's the main reason we prefer the Kindle Paperwhite Kids instead. The newest model was released last fall and comes in its thinnest, fastest form yet. Yet it's still heftier than the adult Kindle Paperwhite, so it's able to withstand kid shenanigans.
