Are you a sustainable startup looking to maximise your impact? The Amazon Sustainability Accelerator is now open for applications, offering ambitious startups the opportunity to scale climate tech solutions, access expert support, and pilot innovative technologies directly with Amazon. If you’re building a solution that could transform how we use energy, manage waste, or reduce water consumption, this could be your next big step.

Run in partnership with Founders Intelligence, the programme is a four-week hybrid accelerator designed to support early-stage companies developing practical and scalable sustainability solutions. It’s part of Amazon’s broader commitment to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 and to build more sustainable operations across Europe.

The Climate Tech Pilot Challenge focuses on building efficiency, circular systems, and water positivity. Startups selected for the programme will not only receive expert support and tailored mentorship but also pitch for the chance to launch a pilot project with Amazon and test their solution in a real-world environment.

Key focus areas for 2025

Startups can apply under one of the following three verticals aligned with Amazon’s EU Buildings strategy:

1. Carbon / Batteries Workstreams
   Technologies that enhance energy efficiency, support renewable energy integration, and optimise power distribution. Areas of interest include Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), DC microgrids, and scalable energy management solutions.
2. Circular Economy / Waste Management Workstreams
   Innovations that improve waste segregation using AI, enable real-time waste tracking, and support material recovery through closed-loop systems. The goal is to reduce contamination, improve diversion rates, and eliminate landfill waste.
3. Water Positive Workstreams
   Solutions that enable real-time water monitoring, reduce water usage, and introduce circular systems for water reuse and harvesting. Technologies should be scalable, regulation-compliant, and integrate seamlessly into facility operations.

What’s in it for you?

Startups selected for the accelerator will receive:

• The opportunity to scope a pilot of their technology with Amazon, with potential funding ranging from $50,000 to $2 million
• £1,500 cash grant to support travel and accommodation during in-person sessions
• $10,000 in AWS Activate Credits
• Personalised business coaching, mentoring and strategic feedback from Amazon and its partners
• Potential introduction to the Climate Pledge Fund, Amazon’s $2 billion corporate venture programme

The programme will run from the 8th of September to the 3rd of October 2025, with key in-person sessions hosted in London and additional support delivered online.

Eligibility and how to apply

To be eligible, startups must:

• Be registered in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.
• Be beyond the prototype stage (Technology Readiness Level 6 or higher).
• Have a scalable solution that can create a significant sustainability impact.
• Be aligned with the specific verticals and challenges identified by Amazon.
• Be prepared to engage in a hybrid programme with both virtual and in-person elements in London.

Timeline:

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis throughout June and July. Selected startups will be invited to provide additional information and join the programme beginning in September.

Please note that the programme is free to join, and Amazon does not take equity in participating companies. Consulting firms, marketing agencies, project developers reselling third-party products, and startups without a working prototype are not eligible.
