PM Modi Launches Rs.9,000 Cr Projects to Transform Bihar’s Future

In a significant push for Bihar’s socio-economic transformation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a slew of ambitious infrastructure and development projects worth thousands of crores across the state. The event, taking place in Siwan, marks a critical milestone in Bihar’s journey toward modernisation, connectivity, and sustainable growth.

Rail Connectivity Set to Transform Bihar’s Heartland

One of the most eagerly awaited developments is the inauguration of the new Vaishali–Deoria railway line project, valued at over ₹400 crore. The Prime Minister will also flag off a new train service on this vital route, enhancing regional mobility and economic access.

In a further fillip to Bihar’s railway network, the Vande Bharat Express will now connect Patliputra to Gorakhpur via Muzaffarpur and Bettiah, offering high-speed travel options to North Bihar’s growing population. This is expected to significantly reduce travel time and increase ease of commuting for students, traders, and daily travelers alike.

Global Ambitions from Local Grounds: Marhowra Plant Goes Global

Advancing the “Make in India – Make for the World” initiative, the Prime Minister will flag off the first export locomotive manufactured at the Marhowra Plant for shipment to the Republic of Guinea. These modern locomotives boast high-horsepower engines, advanced AC propulsion systems, ergonomic cabs, and microprocessor-based control, all integrated with regenerative braking technology — marking a technological leap for India’s manufacturing capacity from Bihar.

Clean Water and Sewage Systems for Healthier Communities

Under the Namami Gange programme, six new Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) worth over ₹1,800 crore will be inaugurated, directly benefiting communities along the Ganga and aiding in its ecological restoration.

To ensure clean and safe drinking water access, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for water supply and sanitation projects worth over ₹3,000 crore in various towns across Bihar. These developments aim to improve public health outcomes and urban infrastructure, particularly in underserved areas.

Bihar’s Leap Toward Energy Resilience

In a visionary move toward renewable energy storage and grid stability, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for a 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) across 15 substations in Bihar. Locations like Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Bettiah, and Siwan will benefit from the installations, which will store electricity during off-peak hours and supply power during peak demand, reducing energy costs for consumers and increasing grid efficiency.

Housing for All: PMAY-U Milestone Achieved

As part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban (PMAY-U), the Prime Minister will release the first installment to over 53,600 beneficiaries in Bihar. In addition, a Grih Pravesh Ceremony will mark the completion of 6,600 new homes, with PM Modi personally handing over keys to a select group of new homeowners — bringing smiles and stability to thousands of families across the state.

These multi-sector initiatives — spanning railways, energy, housing, sanitation, and manufacturing — reaffirm the government’s commitment to inclusive development in Tier-II and Tier-III towns of Bihar. As Bihar gears up for a new chapter of progress, these foundational investments are expected to catalyse job creation, improve public services, and foster sustainable urbanisation for the future.
