13 trillion dollars of gold found in Uganda?

In 2022 the Ugandan government found an additional 31 million tonnes of gold ore beneath the country’s soil. The reported figures suggest an average yield of over 10,000 grams of gold per tonne of ore, which is extraordinarily high. To put this into perspective, the total amount of gold ever mined globally is estimated to be around 244,000 tonnes. Although all this gold won’t be mined any time soon, it is still an extraordinary amount, effectively DOUBLE the circulating float. Anyone done any more digging on this? It sounds unbelievable and like a death sentence for gold if true, which it most likely is not submitted by /u/Genkoji [link] [comments]
