Billy Corgan and Bill Burr have met up to address whether or not they are actually related. Check out the moment below.
The speculation around the two comes as the Smashing Pumpkins frontman appeared on an episode of Howie Mandel’s Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast in November and revealed that there is a genuine possibility that the comedian Bill Burr is his half-brother.
He made the comments after Mandel accidentally used an image of Burr instead of Corgan on the studio’s screen.
“Most of my friends don’t even know this story,” he began. “About 10 years ago, one of my brothers was having a birthday party … and my stepmother said to me, “Do you know who Bill Burr is?”
“At that point, I had never heard of Bill Burr; I didn’t know who he was. I didn’t know he was a comedian or anything. He could have been the guy down the street,” he continued. “She goes, ‘I think it might be one of your father’s illegitimate children. Bill Burr might be one of the children that your father sired in his days being a travelling musician.’ This is a true story, I’m not making this up. There is no joke in this.”
Now, Burr has appeared on a new episode of the podcast and had a surprise visit from the alt-rock icon.
“I got something special that I planned for you,” the host said 30 minutes into the interview, bringing out Corgan. “I thought you would be cool with me bringing the family together.”
Burr then went on to jokingly confront Corgan for sharing the anecdote. “Did you ever think the fact that I never told that story, that maybe you shouldn’t?” he said. “It’s not that I don’t like [Corgan], it reminds me of all of that shit.”
“What was supposed to happen?” he quipped. “Are we gonna go play catch? We’re both in our 50s.”
Later, Mandel left the two alone to continue their conversation about “dad”, before Billy Bush later came into the interview as a surprise guest. “The Billys are all here!” he exclaims before asking the two why they look so similar. “Because we have the same father, you idiot! Haven’t you been listening?” Burr responded.

In other Billy Corgan news, the singer was recently among those leading tributes to Lisa Marie Presley on the second anniversary of her death. The only daughter of Elvis and sole heir to his estate died at the age of 54 on January 12 2023, after suffering a cardiac arrest at her Calabasas home.
He also shared footage of the LA wildfires that have forced over 150,000 residents and more out of their homes, posting a clip from his balcony online earlier this month.
