Official Wolverine PS5 Statement Leaves a Glimmer of Hope

It seems one of PlayStation‘s most anticipated games could launch in the next year. One of the new Insomniac co-studio heads very briefly discussed its Wolverine PS5 game and if it would release in 2025.

From Variety, newly appointed Insomniac co-studio head Chad Dezern did not confirm or deny a 2025 release for Marvel’s Wolverine. For glass half empty people, this could mean the game is years away. But for some, this could also mean Logan could be making his PS5 debut in the next year.

“We’ve announced Wolverine, and we’d love to talk more about Wolverine, but we have to be like Logan today, and remain very stoic until it’s time to pop the claws down the road,” said Dezern. “As much as we’re as much as we have pent up excitement, we got to hold on to it. So that’s, that’s about as much as we could say about our upcoming projects today.”

Marvel’s Wolverine was first revealed during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase with a cinematic trailer. No official footage or announcements have been made since then. However, alpha footage of the game leaked in 2023 following a ransomware attack on Insomniac.

Insomniac founder and CEO Ted Price recently announced he is retiring from the games industry. Jen Huang, Chad Dezern, and Ryan Schneider will act as Co-studio Heads starting at the end of March when Price departs from the studio.

“There is no way that I would ever consider handing the reins to a team I didn’t trust to take care of Insomniacs and lead us to even greater heights,” Price said in a statement. “Chad, Jen and Ryan are that team. For those who may not be familiar, please take a moment to get to know them here.”
