As Los Angeles gets ready to rebuild after a series of devastating wildfires swept through the area, local sports teams are doing their part to honour the first responders who have been working around the clock the past few weeks.

Additionally, the Kings are planning on hosting a benefit game to raise money for communities impacted by the wildfires.
The Kings haven’t played in their home arena since Jan. 4, before the wildfires began. Their scheduled game against the Calgary Flames on Jan. 8, one day after the fires broke out, was postponed by the league. Sportsnet’s Eric Francis, who was in Los Angeles at the time, reported large amounts of ash falling around the arena at the time while staff was handing out masks upon entry.
According to AccuWeather, the estimated damage from the wildfires, which decimated the Pacific Palisades early on and spread through surrounding neighbourhoods, exceeds $250 billion and over 12,000 structures have been destroyed.
