Floyd Mayweather vs Jake Paul simulation ends in surprise stoppage after horror injury in final minute
Jake Paul and Floyd Mayweather’s bitter feud has been settled virtually – with there being one clear winner. Mayweather is one of the best fighters to have ever graced the ring, retiring with a perfect 50-0 record while picking up world titles in five weight classes. Mayweather and Paul have never fought, despite feuding for yearsGetty At the back end of his career after retiring in 2017, ‘TBE’ dabbled in some money-spinning exhibitions including against Paul’s brother Logan in 2021. During the build-up to the fight, Jake was embroiled himself in a confrontation with Mayweather after stealing the legend’s hat before the press conference. It sparked a rivalry and a fierce war of words, with Paul hoping to get a shot at the skilled operator after he had fought his sibling. Unfortunately for ‘El Gallo’, the shot has failed to materialise despite his attempts to lure Mayweather back into the professional ranks. There is a significant size difference between the pair, which would be a huge obstacle to any fight being made. It would also be Paul’s most skilled opponent by far, with his most experienced foe being a veteran Mike Tyson in a surprise return, whom he beat in November. Luckily for boxing fans, although an outcome may never land, boxing video game Undisputed has shown exactly who would win. Mayweather would obviously be far from his prime now aged 47, but he still trains and is in good shape. And the simulation began showing him at exactly that, with Mayweather moving well and landed the crisper shots early on. ‘Money’ would have been unlikely to stand and trade with Paul as much as he did in the virtual opener, but he caught his rival with some big thumping shots. UndisputedMayweather had the beating of Paul in the simulation[/caption] Mayweather wasn’t notorious for his single punch power, but returned to his traditional fluid style in the second and third, boxing off the back foot and completely dominating proceedings. Paul managed to finally get hold of the icon in the fourth round, letting his hands go and using his size advantage for a rare moment. The fifth and sixth rounds took a similar pattern with Mayweather dominating, but the legend surprisingly suffered swelling to his left eye. It was the exact eye he suffered damage to in his real exhibition with KSI’s brother Deji, but it was Paul who sported a nasty cut above his right eye in the sixth round. He went back to the corner with blood trickling from the wound, with two rounds left to survive. Paul continued to plug away and try to exchange, but blood poured from his face – even splattering on the canvas and his chest. UndisputedPaul was stopped bizarrely with one minute left after suffering a nasty cut[/caption] It is a realistic outcome as the championship round approached, given Paul absorbed a lot of shots from Mayweather. And he covered up and went into survival mode late on, as any fighter would, but things got quickly damning. The referee halted the action for the referee to check the gaping wound that poured out blood from Paul’s eye. There was only one minute so it was perhaps surprising to take the opportunity to then call a doctor, but the fight was then stopped. It was a bizarre end to the fight, given Paul was still standing and there was hardly any time left before the bell. For the referee to leave it that long may also have been unlikely, but the fight ended by a stoppage nonetheless, a fairly realistic outcome. If the pair did meet, boxing fans would have expected Mayweather to have got the stoppage albeit, he did fail to stop Paul’s brother Logan in their eight-round exhibition. The pair traded punches in 2021, with there being no winner due to no judges scoring the dust-up. Follow talkBOXING on social media talkBOXING is now on Twitter and Facebook.
