Erling Haaland to sign astonishing new Man City contract which won’t expire until 2034
He's here to stay.
Erling Haaland is reportedly set to sign an astonishing nine-and-a-half-year new contract with Manchester City to keep him at the club until 2034.
The Norwegian striker, 24, has scored a remarkable 111 goals in 126 games since joining City from Borussia Dortmund for €60million (£51m) in 2022.
Haaland’s current deal was due to expire in June 2027, with long-term speculation linking him with an eventual move to Real Madrid.
However, according to The Athletic, Haaland is now ready to commit the vast majority of his career to the Manchester club with a new deal that would run out when he was 34.
The report adds that the new contract removes any exit clauses present in his current deal and will be one of the most lucrative in the sport’s history.
Haaland has already won two Premier League titles as well as an FA Cup and Champions League during his time at City and is said to be extremely happy living in Manchester.
His new deal virtually guarantees that he will surpass current boss Pep Guardiola’s tenure at the club, with the Spaniard likely to leave after his latest deal runs out in in the summer of 2027.
News of the extension represents encouraging news for City who have endured a disappointing league campaign as they continue to face legal battles off the pitch.
The defending Premier League champions are currently 12 points off league leaders Liverpool after a torrid end to 2024 which saw them win just two out of 13 games between the start of November and the New Year.
Haaland, however, has still scored 16 goals in 21 league appearances, second only to Mohamed Salah with 18 goals.
January has already proved a busy month for City as they look to rebuild their squad and secure a top-four finish.
Guardiola’s side have agreed a €50 million (£41.8m) deal with Lens to sign Abdukodir Khusanov, with fellow centre-back Vitor Reis also set to sign from Palmeiras.
A fee to sign talented Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush has also been agreed, while the club are also exploring a deal to sign Juventus left-back Andrea Cambiaso for £54m.
