After sucker punching Jordan Poole, Warriors star comes forward to make his feelings clear
Draymond Green is still really sorry, and wants everyone to know it. It’s been over two years, since Green sucker punched former teammate Jordan Poole at practice, but his remorse remains as strong as ever it seems. Green and Poole were teammates for four seasons together in Golden StateGetty The Golden State Warriors defeated the Washington Wizards on Saturday night 122-114, with former Warrior, Poole, going off for 38 points. Poole spoke after the game about the fond memories he had as a member of the Warriors. “Yeah, I love those guys over there,” Poole said after the game. “I love most of those guys over there. “A really good group. A really good staff. “Shout out to the fans. I saw a lot of 3 jerseys out there, a lot of JP3 jerseys, which is always really cool. “I always get a lot of love [here]. I spent some good quality time here, and it’s dope to see it appreciated.” After the first part of Poole’s quote was posted on X, Green responded to it. “I really am sorry,” Green wrote. In case anyone was wondering how Green still felt about what he did to Poole all these years later, it’s rightfully still remorse. Green has always been known for his fiery and aggressive attitude, but crossed a line with PooleGetty That wasn’t the first time Green has made a public statement on the incident. Green has addressed a handful of times, but unfortunately will be something that sticks with him wherever he goes, especially when he plays against Poole. “I’ve always been a guy that no matter what, if someone’s younger than me, I always want to pour into them,” Green told Penny Hardaway last month on the Two Cents Podcast. “And I will say I kind of got thrust into a vet role before I was ready to handle it before I knew what it took to handle it. “And I failed miserably. “One of my biggest failures as a vet was what happened with Jordan Poole. “It took me to go through that failure with Jordan Poole, who was someone that came in and chose his locker to be next to me because he wanted to learn from me. “[He] was someone that I would spend time with and that I would pour into, and I [f–ked] it all up.” Green always knew what he did was wrong, and has since tried to make amends for it. And once again last night, wanted to make it clear that he still is sorry.
