United Airlines 2025 Premier Status Buy-Up Offers: Worth the Cost?

United Airlines launched its 2025 Premier Status Buy Up promotion today. This promotion allows MileagePlus members to upgrade to a higher status than they would otherwise have this year.

You can pay for the Buy Up offers in cash or miles, and there is also a 10% early bird discount.

Conclusion

These buy-up offers appear to be significantly higher in dollars and miles than in previous years, so I don’t see many taking United on this “opportunity.”

I have a lifetime Premier Gold from my flying activity with United and Continental that was standardized and combined during their merger in the 2010s. It comes in handy when flying in non-business on Star Alliance member airlines.
