talkSPORT betting tips – Best football bets and expert advice for Thursday 16 January

The midweek Premier League slate comes to an end with two games on Thursday as an Ipswich side on the up host Brighton and Manchester United look to back up their morale-boosting FA Cup win over Arsenal when they face Southampton. There is also action from League One and the Copa del Rey. Below we’ve picked out the best bets from Thursday’s fixture list. BET £10 GET £30 IN FREE BETS WITH TALKSPORT BET Bet of the day Brighton to beat Ipswich – 20/23 A glut of draws means that Brighton have now gone eight games without a win but they are fancied to snap that run when they visit Ipswich. The Seagulls have a young team and have struggled with consistency but they beat Norwich 4-0 last time out and have also accounted for Tottenham, Manchester City and Newcastle this season. Brighton were arguably unlucky not to beat Arsenal in their last league game and looked to have turned a corner in that clash. They face an Ipswich team who are undoubtedly in strong form but the Tractor Boys have still lost 10 league games and have the second-lowest expected goals tally in the division. Ipswich are also set to be without some of their key attacking talents in Omari Hutchinson, Samuel Szmodics and Conor Chaplin. Brighton should pick up a crucial win in their race for a European spot. Special of the day  Bet Boost – Wrexham to win and both teams to score vs Shrewsbury – 7/2 Wrexham are making a very solid fist of earning back-to-back EFL promotions in a competitive League One title race, winning 15 of their first 25 games to sit two points off leaders Birmingham. On paper they face a routine task when visiting Shrewsbury, who are battling it out at the wrong end of the table. However the Shrews have improved since Gareth Ainsworth took over as manager and they have netted in eight of their last nine league games. The hosts are fancied to get on the scoresheet, although Wrexham’s attacking firepower may prove too strong in the end.  Long shot of the day  Draw and both teams to score in Manchester United vs Southampton – 13/2 There has been a new-found positivity around Manchester United following their draws against Liverpool and Arsenal and they won the shootout after their 1-1 FA Cup tie with the Gunners. However the fact remains that they have gone six games without a win in 90 minutes and they have taken just 13 points from a possible 30 at Old Trafford this season. They host Southampton on Thursday and while the visitors have struggled in the top flight this season, there have been some positives away from home under new manager Ivan Juric. The Saints held Fulham to a draw and were narrowly edged out by Crystal Palace in their last league road trip.  Eight of the last 15 Premier League meetings between these teams have been draws and Southampton have lost only three times in their last 10 trips to Old Trafford. The away team could be worth chancing to nick a point.   BET £10 GET £30 IN FREE BETS WITH TALKSPORT BET talkSPORT BET Offer Sign Up Offer: Bet £10 and get £30 in free bets – CLAIM HERE T&Cs: 18+ New customers only.
