The Texans beat the Los Angeles Chargers in the wild-card round 32-12 to advance, while the Chiefs had a wild-card round bye week. Additionally, they sat most of their starters in Week 18.  Fun fact: Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes hasn’t thrown a pass in an NFL game since Christmas Day. While having all this time off could hinder some teams, this will only rejuvenate them.  As for the game itself, the Chiefs simply match up too well. These teams met in Week 16, and the Chiefs won by eight points.  In that game, the Texans still had wide receiver Tank Dell. He caught a fantastic touchdown pass.  However, on the very touchdown, he suffered a gruesome knee injury and is now out for the season.  Now the Texans only notable pass-catcher is Nico Collins. Yes, he’s fantastic, but so is Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie, who I expect will shadow Collins all game. The Texans have a great running game with Joe Mixon, but in the last matchup, the Chiefs held him to 57 yards, and he didn’t score. That was with Dell in the lineup.  Now, the Chiefs could add more defenders in the box more often to slow down this rushing attack while McDuffie handles Collins. Houston Texans vs. Kansas City Chiefs pick My bet for this game is the Chiefs -8.5.  This seems like a lot of points, with the Texans putting up 32 last week, but remember, that was in a game in which Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert threw four interceptions.  This time, the Texans best receiver will have a difficult matchup while the Chiefs run defense, which is eighth in NFL in yards allowed per game at 101.8, handles Mixon all afternoon long.
